What are the chemical and physical properties of synthetic and animal insulin ? How do they react different in the body ?

The major difference between animal insulin (human made by pancreas) and synthetic insulin is where it is made. Synthetic insulin is made in a lab by scientists and human made insulin is produced by the pancreas by that person. Another major difference is the process of producing the insulin. In the body the insulin is produced by live cells. In a lab, the insulin is produced by live bacteria and then rendered into liquid insulin. The process of making synthetic insulin is much harder to do than the production of human insulin. After speaking to a pharmacist it was said that the only significant difference is synthetic insulin is very expensive and human made insulin is free. They do react the same in the body if given the correct synthetic insulin, but with so many different kinds such as novolog, humalog, and lantus (each one works different in each individuals body), the right one must be used.

For me different insulin's work differently in my body. I have been diabetic for almost 5 years and through that time I have gone through many different struggles having to do with the insulin being used but overall I am very thankful and happy that insulin was discovered because if not i could not live the way i do today.
